Making a Difference

 Agenda:

• Warm-up: "How Can I Make a Difference" Parris TedTalk-->https://youtu.be/eMANVHpQ3O0
• Journal: 

Create a new journal entry in your ongoing Word document.  Title it "Making a Difference 5/17/22." 

• In the journal, ask yourself the 2 questions that Parris asks:
  • What breaks your heart?
  • What makes you come alive? 
  • You may put more than one thing in your response, but make sure to elaborate on it into a complete paragraph.
      
• Keep in mind that in our next text, The Hate U Give, Angie Thomas explores issues that break her heart: the treatment of the black community in modern society, specifically in the justice system.  She combined what breaks her heart and what makes her come alive: writing.  You will eventually be combining the two you picked (it could be from this journal or something that you think about in the future) to make your own brief TedTalk for the end of this class.  And, no, it does not need to be as big or as complicated of an issue as Thomas'.
