In a free write, write a response that focuses on the questions below.  You should write your answer in your ongoing ELA 12 journal.  Title it "Names--2/1/22"

• Names.  We all have them, but do they matter? 

  Does your name have a particular meaning?  (A family meaning?  A religious meaning?  A meaning from the language it comes from?  If you are unsure about the last question, try Google.)

  Does that have an impact on who you are?  Would you be the same person if your name was something else or if your parents had gone with their second choice?

• Now that you have watched a number of opinions on names and have done a little thinking about your own, write a paragraph that explains your beliefs.  What do you think about names?  Do you agree with anything brought up in the videos?  Why or why not?  You may include parts of your intro journal as is appropriate.
